Screen printing is a hands-on printing technique that uses a fine mesh screen, a stencil, and ink to transfer designs onto fabric, paper, or other surfaces. In a workshop, participants create or use a stencil on the screen, push ink through the mesh with a squeegee, and repeat for multiple colors by aligning screens. The process is tactile, repeatable, and well-suited for custom shirts, posters, and small-run projects, teaching design, registration, and basic printmaking skills.

Risograph (Riso) printing is a hybrid of screen printing and digital photocopying that produces vibrant, slightly imperfect prints with rich, textured color layers. Using stencil-like drums for each color, Risograph excels at bold flat colors, transparent overlays, and unexpected registration shifts that give each print a unique, handmade feel. Ideal for posters, zines, stationery, and editioned art, Risograph workshops teach drum setup, color separation, paper selection, and hands-on printing techniques so participants can create dynamic multi-color prints.
Offered at Wishbone Industrial Arts’ Studio, our Riso workshops include:
Intro to Riso
Riso Postcards
Riso Posters
Riso Pet Portraits
Riso Journals
Riso Habit Trackers
Riso Zine Making
Riso Stickers

Zines are small, self-published booklets or journals made by individuals or groups to share art, stories, ideas, and personal expression outside mainstream publishing. They’re often handmade, low-cost, and embrace DIY aesthetics — collage, typewritten text, photocopied images, and hand bindings.
Our zine workshops guide participants through creating their own mini-book from concept to finished copy. You’ll learn simple folding and binding techniques, layout and sequencing, photocopy and printing tips, and ways to combine writing, drawing, collage, and found imagery.
Workshops typically include prompts and examples, hands-on instruction, materials (paper, staplers, scissors, glue, markers), and time for sharing and feedback. By the end you’ll leave with an original zine — a personal journal, art book, or themed pamphlet — plus the skills to make more at home.
